What's a bronze?

People that being playing league of legends usually hear one word over and over: Bronze. But what exactly is Bronze? And what does it even mean. Well, this is the answer for you.

League of Legends features a ranking system, which is achieved by playing ranked mode. You play to get points, and the more points you have the high your rank and the better your division. The higher you go the more respected you are within the community, even going all the way up to the top rank, which is filled with famous players and professionals.

There are 7 levels of the ranked system in league, with 5 divisions within each league. Bronze is the lowest rank, followed by silver, gold, platinum, diamond, master and finally challenger. When people fist stat playing they are considered to be un-ranked. Most players will be placed either in silver or bronze when they finish what's called their placements ( which places you into your rank). During the ranked season you just need to play in order to increase your rank and hopefully rise to another level of skill.

While everyone starts somewhere, players in bronze and even silver are typically looked down upon in the community. While they are the largest divisions statistically, new trends in game play and most of the game knowledge comes from the top rank, which is challenger, or the pro scene.

While the game is very popular in North America,a majority of the information about the game actually comes from Korea. Korea is often considered to be the best at the game, with 5 of the last 7 world championships under their belt and an entire arsenal of skilled player's it's really no surprise. typically if something is poplar in Korea, it begins to trickle down to america. Usually these " Korean builds" as they are called are taken more seriously then american based strategies, which further proves the point that Korea is seen as the "head" of league of legends game play in the world. Korea has some of the best teams, as well as the best player, named Faker. Korea has this identity in the league world of being the best, and even the average player in Korea generally garners more respect that the average player in america.
